Moku
Pahu
 |
The Moku Pahu is
an integrated tug and barge (ITB) designed specifically to
carry raw sugar from Hawaii to the US mainland. It is 685'
overall, carries 18,740 tons gross and is operated by Matson
Navigation.
|
 |
The 134' catamaran-hulled
tug and 639' barge were separated for the first time in four
years when the vessel arrived at Cascade General.
|
 |
Both components
were lifted on the same drydock and blasted to white metal
then coated below the waterline.
|
 |
The topsides received
a standard blast and coat. The tug's twin rudders and propellers
were overhauled and one rudder pin replaced. All the barge's
operating systems were inspected and overhauled where necessary.
